Salamanda - building a multi-vertical RWA tokenization platform on Base

Salamanda is a real-world asset tokenization platform built by Candiid Labs to bring institutional-grade liquidity, compliance, and transparency to traditionally illiquid asset classes. Currently in public beta on Base, Salamanda enables fractional ownership and on-chain transfer across four asset verticals - music royalties, real estate, agriculture, and carbon credits - each with bespoke onboarding, custody, and verification flows. The platform proves out Candiid Labs' end-to-end capability across web3 product strategy, smart contract engineering, regulatory infrastructure, and consumer-grade UX for compliance-heavy markets.

The challenge

Tokenizing real-world assets sits at the intersection of three difficult problems. Compliance has to be enforced at the protocol layer - KYC/KYB, accreditation gating, jurisdictional rules, and transfer restrictions - without breaking the trust guarantees of the underlying chain. Every tokenized asset requires a defensible chain-of-custody from physical or legal reality to its on-chain representation, with oracle infrastructure that institutional partners can audit. And the experience has to feel like a modern fintech app, not a DeFi protocol, because most of the asset originators and buyers in music, agriculture, and carbon credits are not crypto-native. Most existing RWA platforms focus on a single asset class. Salamanda was designed from day one to support four parallel verticals on shared compliance, custody, and tokenization infrastructure.

The approach

Candiid Labs designed and built Salamanda as a modular tokenization stack. Each asset vertical has a purpose-built onboarding pipeline - diligence, valuation, and legal wrapping for music royalties looks nothing like the equivalent for carbon credits - but every pipeline feeds into a shared tokenization core. Compliance flows are institutional-grade, with KYC/KYB, jurisdictional gating, and transfer restrictions enforced at the smart contract level. The tokenization core is deployed on Base, chosen for low transaction costs, EVM compatibility, and Coinbase's institutional posture. All Salamanda contracts have been audited by Coinsult. An oracle layer sits between the on-chain core and off-chain reality, providing independent attestation of asset state - occupancy for real estate, harvest for agriculture, retirement for carbon credits, royalty disbursement for music. The consumer interface hides the chain entirely behind familiar fintech patterns.

What we built

End-to-end: product strategy and information architecture; smart contract design and deployment on Base; KYC/KYB integration and accreditation logic; oracle infrastructure for off-chain attestation; consumer web and mobile interface; admin tooling for asset originator onboarding; and the full audit cycle with Coinsult. The platform is currently in public beta and onboarding asset originators and accredited buyers across all four verticals.

Architecture and asset verticals

The Salamanda stack is intentionally modular. Each new asset vertical can be added by plugging a vertical-specific onboarding pipeline into the shared compliance, tokenization, and oracle layers - without disturbing the core protocol.

The four asset verticals currently in public beta cover deliberately different mechanics. Music royalties tokenize fractionalized rights to royalty streams from licensed catalogs. Real estate enables fractional ownership of income-producing property, with on-chain rent distribution and oracle-attested occupancy. Agriculture tokenizes claims on agricultural production cycles, with verification at planting, harvest, and sale. Carbon credits represent verified credits with on-chain retirement and full lifecycle tracking. Each vertical exercises a different combination of compliance, custody, and oracle requirements - which is exactly why building all four in parallel was a stronger architectural exercise than focusing on one.

What this build proves

Salamanda represents Candiid Labs' production-ready capability across the full tokenization stack: smart contract architecture and audit-readiness on EVM chains including Base; KYC/KYB and accreditation gating enforced at the protocol layer; oracle design for off-chain asset attestation; multi-vertical product architecture with shared compliance and tokenization primitives; and consumer-grade UX for non-crypto-native users in compliance-heavy markets.

If your team is building tokenization infrastructure, an RWA platform, or any system that requires marrying on-chain logic with regulated off-chain assets, Salamanda is the kind of build Candiid Labs delivers - end to end, audit-ready, and shipped.
